Being "Uncool"
Our class has made a commitment to try our hardest to find some ways to be "uncool" in positive ways. That means going against what others tell us is possible and just doing what is right. We're excited about our new mission!

Open House Project
Students:
Please bring in a picture of yourself in your early years by Monday, Feb. 28th. What do I mean by early years? I'm referring to your toddler or little kid years (ages 2-4 would be great). We're making a special open house project. The pictures are just being scanned, so they will be returned to you asap unharmed! If everyone brings one in by Monday, I'm sure a gumball or two would be headed to the class chart...

Measurement
Parents:
We have just started our measurement unit. Our kiddos have a great grasp on how to measure, so it's time to build up. What we need to work on is the abstract part of that...visualizing how long, wide, heavy, how much something will hold, etc. For example, would you say that the classroom door is 3in, 3ft, 3yd, or 3mi wide? How do you know? (It would be 3 ft, because the others are too small or big). We just started length today, but we will soon get into capacity and weight. We will be talking about customary and metric units. Any outside, real world practice that the kiddos can get would be helpful.
Students:
Share with us how you are practicing measurement!
